What's for dinner?
Soccer practice for the kids, band practice, youth night at church... Holy moly can weeknights fill up fast! How do you plan healthy and quick meals around such a busy schedule?
I found myself in the same predicament. Then I was invited to a Tastefully Simple Freezer workshop! WOW is all I can say.
The workshop was held at Healthy Vibe, a local wellness shop in Andover. Before the event, we were all sent grocery lists detailing all the meat, veggies and ingredients needed for 8 meals that we would prepare together. I did the shopping, separated the meat into freezer bags, and chopped veggies. Each meal serves 6 and the average cost per serving about $2.85.
When it came time for the event, I packed a cooler with the meat on ice, and I was off!
I arrived to find several tables all set up with gift bags holding Tastefully Simple Seasonings that I purchased when registering. Each person had a workstation, and directions. We followed step by step instructions, and left with 8 meals ready for the freezer! They each had labels on them with the cooking instructions.
It took about 2 hours from start to finish, and the host provided wine, snacks, and there was lots of good company. It was a blast and the time flew by. I don't particularly enjoy cooking, so if I can do 8 meals in 2 hours, while socializing... and enjoy it... This is the perfect answer for me.
Here is a sample of the meals we made (other menus available).
Honey Teriyaki Chicken, Beef and Broccoli Teriyaki Stir Fry, Sensational Beef Stroganoff, Garlic Kissed Pork Chops, Tasty Brown Sugar Chicken, Asiago Alfredo Shrimp (or chicken), Cheesy Chicken Bake, Drunken Steak.
When I got home, I loaded the freezer and I was set. I have made three of the meals so far, and let me tell you... they were all amazing, and so easy!!
My favorite so far has been the Beef Stroganoff. When my husband was eating it, he said, "I don't want this to end!"
So if you are looking for quick and healthy dinner solutions, I would highly recommend getting on the mailing list for when the Freezer Workshops are coming up near you. And if you want to hold your own, even better yet!!
